Coach Weinberg’s players set team records for total victories at 184, highest winning percentage in a season at .925, and most extensive schedule with 22 competitions in ten states from Massachusetts to Georgia to California.  Demonstrating enviable consistency, the 2001 team reached the finals eighteen times and finished no worse than third during the entire campaign.  Taking the varsity program past the milestone of 80 all-time tournament titles and 1,300 victories, the team also equaled a single season record of ten tournament championships.

The squad’s most important triumph came in the Michigan Class A State Championship Tournament in April.  At the end of the two day competition in Lansing, CC captured the state title for a remarkable seventh time in the fourteen year history of the tournament.

On June 9-10 in Ann Arbor, the team posted sixteen victories to win the NAQT National Championship Tournament.  The victory, the second for the team in three years, was highlighted by a thrilling, come from behind victory win in the semi finals in which the CC team swept the final 45 points of the game to post a five point victory over the state champions of Tennessee.
